As Pokémon TCG grows in popularity, so do counterfeit cards and resealed products. Use this checklist to protect your collection.
1. Check the print quality
Genuine cards have crisp text, sharp artwork and correct fonts. Blurry print, spelling mistakes or colours that look washed out are common warning signs.
2. Compare the card stock
Real cards have a consistent thickness and finish. Fakes often feel thinner, glossier or flimsier. Comparing a card with one you know is genuine is one of the quickest tests.
3. Look at the back
The blue on the back of a genuine card is consistent. Fakes are often too light, too purple or uneven.
4. Inspect holo and foil effects
Genuine holo and foil patterns are clean and match the set. Fakes may use a generic rainbow foil over the whole card.
5. Buy sealed product from trusted sellers
Sealed product with intact factory shrink wrap is the safest way to buy. Be wary of prices that seem too good to be true. Every product at Vault Spark is sealed, official Pokémon TCG product – browse our booster boxes and Elite Trainer Boxes.
