Whether you are opening packs next month or keeping a sealed box for the long term, condition is everything. A crushed corner, faded artwork or split shrink wrap can take a big bite out of what a Pokémon TCG product is worth later. The good news is that proper storage is simple and cheap.
Keep it cool, dry and out of the sun
Heat, humidity and sunlight are the three biggest enemies of sealed product. Store your boxes indoors in a room that stays at a steady temperature, away from radiators, windows and damp spaces like garages or lofts. Direct sunlight fades box art surprisingly quickly, so a cupboard or a covered shelf is ideal.
Protect the shrink wrap
Factory shrink wrap is proof that a product has not been opened or searched. Avoid sticky labels and price tags on the wrap, handle boxes with clean hands and never store them where they can be scratched by sharp objects.
Use the right cases
- Acrylic or plastic display cases for booster boxes and Elite Trainer Boxes
- Sturdy storage boxes for collection boxes and premium collections
- Keep tins upright so the lids do not dent
Stack carefully
Stack boxes flat and never place heavy items on top of lighter products. Larger boxes such as an Ultra Premium Collection should go at the bottom, with smaller items above.
Keep a record
Note what you own, when you bought it and what you paid. It makes insurance, selling and tracking your collection much easier. Ready to start or grow your sealed collection? Browse our full Pokémon TCG range.
